This week, filmmakers from Greenland, Iceland and Sweden have gathered in Akureyri for a five-day workshop focused on collaboration, learning, and the future of youth filmmaking in rural areas of the Nordics.
Participants are Jenný Lára Arnórsdóttir and Örlygur Hnefill Örlygsson from Iceland, Malik Kleist and Hanne M. Sørensen from Greenland, and Maya Lindh and Siggi Holm from Sweden.
The workshop is to prepare our upcoming Nordic Film Path, a filmmaking capm for young people of these regions, that will be held in Sweden this August. Over the course of the week, the filmmakers are sharing their experiences, developing workshop formats, and discussing the role of film in shaping culture and identity, particularly for rural communities.
A key focus of the meeting is to strengthen opportunities for young people in rural areas across the Nordic countries, with an emphasis on amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream filmmaking.
